As many of you probably saw over Instagram, a few weeks ago I went on a vacation to England. What brought me there was tickets to seeĀ Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was AMAZING (more on that later), but as I went with my partner Jack, we also got to spend time with his family in Brighton, Bristol, and London. I have so many photos from just one week in England that I’m going to have to split up these posts! So I’ll start with some of the amazing places I saw. Stay tuned for parts two (paper goods!) and three (all things Harry Potter)!
Got to say hello to pretty cows on our first day in Seaford – a small town about half an hour out of Brighton, where Jack’s godfather lives.
Those cliffs in the back are the Seven Sisters – stunning!
Jack and I spent an afternoon walking around downtown Brighton, and our first stop was the famous pier! I was so excited to finally see it!
Isn’t it gorgeous?
Seriously, so pretty! And we lucked out with such nice weather.
Besides the pier, Brighton is known for all its little laines full of cute shops, like this! We went into that bookstore on the right and grabbed a sandwich from the little shop on the left. Sitting right in the middle there was great for people watching – everyone in Brighton was so trendy! I also noticed no many women were wearing dresses, maybe because it was so windy!
More walking around the laines, admiring all the precious little shops.
I swear, England is covered in bunting. I don’t know why, but I love it! I wish I lived somewhere that was covered in bunting.
This is Jack, preparing to take his cousin Sam’s dog Reggie out for a ramble. You can tell Reggie is ready to go!
Reggie and Sam introduced us to some gorgeous horses as we walked around some fields.
Jack’s cousins Sam and Charlie took us around Bristol. They were particularly pleased to show off the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and I can see why! On a clearer day it’d probably stand out moreĀ – and apparently in the summer they have hot air balloon festivals that I’d love to see – but it was so cool to see regardless. I find England gorgeous, and this was quite the view! To the left we could see more of downtown Bristol.
Clifton Village was very posh – we walked through briefly and got a pint at the White Lion pub, where it has a huge patio with a great view of the bridge from the other side.
This is Frome, a tiny town in the English countryside. We went for Jack’s cousin Jessica’s daughter’s first birthday party! I felt so warm to be included as family in such a sweet event. We got to go on a little walk around the town, and I’m so glad we did. It’s adorable there, and I would have loved to explore more! We walked past a bookshop that was opening, which is always a nice sight to see, and some paper shops but I didn’t get to go in :p Still a lovely walk up and down old cobblestone streets. This kind of view is part of why I love England so much – I think it’s because of all the British TV and movies I’ve seen :p
MORE BUNTING.
Then it was time for London! In 2009, I spent four months there for a semester abroad, so it was surreal to be able to see the sights again. Jack’s godmother gave us a driving tour, which was fun. Here’s Buckingham Palace, all aglow.
On our last day in London (don’t worry, more London will come up in the next posts), we did some shopping around Piccadilly Square and Oxford Street. Coming out of the tube station, we found this an odd sight to see!
Walking towards Fortnum and Mason’s, enjoying how beautiful London is.
That does it for the sightseeing pictures! I meant to take way more but between being distracted, moving quickly and my phone deciding it was always too full of memory, it sort of fell off. But don’t worry, there are plenty more sights to see in my next two posts, coming soon! I had so much fun on our three stops in England, and I’m so thankful for all of Jack’s family members who let us stay with them and played tour guides. I will treasure this trip always!
