Contest: The Diary of a Teenage Girl

the diary of a teenage girl contest

Phoebe Gloeckner’s 2000 graphic novel (said in more ways than one) The Diary of a Teenage Girl — an intense and honest account of a girl in the 1970s who’s experiencing sex, drugs and depression after sleeping with her mother’s boyfriend — has now been made into a film staring Bel Powley, Kristen Wiig and Alexander Skarsgard. The book is a fantastic read— so up-front, sad and poetic. It is a champion for speaking loudly on how teenage girls depict sex and all that comes with it. I’m excited to see what’ll come from the movie. It’s been getting rave reviews since its showing at Sundance. I’ll have reviews of both in a couple weeks.

I’m even more excited to share an awesome contest, thanks to Mongrel Media and North Atlantic Books!
